Sandbar Eatery

Sandbar Eatery is a restaurant based in Managwhai Heads, Northland and is owned/operated by Andrew Rennie. Andrew was keen to breathe new life into his well known establishment, and gave me total creative trust. I worked collaboratively with his interior designer to ensure that the restaurant brand was consistent across every element, leaving no corner forgotten.

Logo Design & Printed Materials

Taking inspiration from the surrounding area; coastal blue hues, polished concrete and pale timbers were chosen for the interior fit out. Using this as the main colour for the logo, I created a clean design with inspiration from the existing branding. Layers of cutlery were made and bold typography was used. With the branding needing to be used across many areas, including large signage and small menus, it was important the the logo translated well and had impact.

Menu design was kept clean and fuss free, I worked closely with Andrew to recommend free standing lunch menu boards, dinner boards and designed his coffee signage. The external sign was custom made and mounted onto ply to mirror the look and feel of the interior.

Designed: Brunch/Lunch, Dinner, Kids and Wine menus, external signage, coffee menu, business/coffee cards, Junction Magazine print ad, Facebook and social branding.

Previously the website was very basic and non-mobile friendly, the goal was to create a site that would work well to convey the quality of the food and the atmosphere within the restaurant, even if you had never set foot within the space. Given Mangawhai is a holiday town with lots of visitors, this was really important. Andrew wanted people to feel their trip to Sandbar was as important as the town itself. Image rich and interactive, the website has all the crucial restaurant information, including a comprehensive menu.

Imagery was required to showcase the new interior fit out and the improved menu, all imagery was taken with the website build in mind and to create an image library for future marketing material including print and digital advertising.
